Coricopat and Tantomile

Coricopat and Tantomile were laying in the same exact position in the rays of the sun at the base of the car in the junkyard. Coricopat and Tantomile both noticed a rat and Coricopat caught it. Strange, no one ever catches them moving out of sync. They both ate the rat and lied down.
"There's not much to do today is there Cori?" Tantomile asked.
"Not really, but, the hairs on the back of my neck are raised as if something is about to happen, what do you think?" He questioned.
"Well, I can't tell if I should be excited or if I should be scared." Tantomile replied.
Meanwhile, Macavity had a plan that involved more magic than he alone had, he just needed one more conjuring cat, What about Mistoffelees? No, he stopped my plan last year, that would never work. Hmm, what about those witches cats, Coricopat and Tantomile. Tantomile would work. As Macavity thought more of his evil plan, it hadn't occurred to him what would happen if the two twins were separated. He laughed evilly as he began to organize his thoughts.
“I’m getting really scared Cori, something’s going to happen. I know it, it’s not going to be good either, I can tell, we have got to figure out what it is though.” Tantomile told her brother
“I agree sister, we must figure out what it is and whatever we do, we’ve got to stick together.” Said Coricopat worriedly. Tantomile looked around at the same time her brother did.
“ Maybe Munkustrap can help us.” Suggested Tantomile.
“No, but Mistoffelees might be able to help, he’s a magician as well.” Coricopat explained. They both nodded and walked over to Misto who was grooming himself outside his pipe.
“Hey guys!” Misto began, "what’s up?” He turned over to stand on his head. (I have no clue why but he did)
“Me and Tantomile have a strange feeling that something bad will happen today, we were wondering if you might feel the same way.”
“If you did feel that way maybe you could help us.” Tantomile added.
“No, but maybe there’s a storm coming.” Misto suggested.
“No, this is worse, I’m really scared.” Tantomile told him.
“But you guys are barely ever scared, tense sometimes but never scared.” Misto thought turning back over to stand up right.
“Yes, we want to know what’s wrong but we can’t see in the future.” Coricopat explained.
“I understand, but now I have that feeling as well. Just stick together whatever happens okay?” Misto told them.
“Okay.” They said in unison. All of a sudden the lights flashed and they heard a cackling laugh. Macavity sauntered out to the middle of the Junkyard. Munkustrap jumped from his spot on the tire to the ground and glared at Macavity. Macavity looked in the direction of Coricopat and Tantomile, Coricopat turned to grab his sister’s hand when he realized she was gone. He stared open mouthed at the spot his sister had been. He looked at Mistoffelees who looked very worried. Coricopat turned around and looked for his sister.
“Tantomile! Where are you! Come out right now!” Called Coricopat. He got no reply and he started to worry for his sister. He ran around the junkyard calling his sister, never getting a reply. All the cats were amazed for they had never seen Coricopat without Tantomile right there next to him. He ran around frantically searching, though he knew Macavity had taken her. He glared at Macavity who was still standing in front of Munkustrap. Macavity looked at him and laughed.
“Your pathetic without your mirror aren’t you?” Laughed Macavity.
“Where is my sister?” Hissed Coricopat.
“I don’t know, one of my Hench cats took her I guess, they did exactly what they were told.” Macavity told him evilly. Coricopat could barely hold himself from attacking Macavity, but Munkustrap shook his head at him signaling to leave him alone for now. Coricopat ran into the pipe Misto was usually in and waited there. He couldn’t bare being without his sister and best friend.
He remembered when they were little and a witch had adopted them, his mother told him to take care of his sister. He promised he would. His heart broke at the memory. He could barely keep himself from crying.
Meanwhile, Tantomile was in a dark room, even for a cat. She couldn’t get her eyes to adjust to the dark. She crawled over to a corner and cried. She wanted her brother and could feel all the magic in her blood draining. Without her brother she was just an ordinary cat, in fact if she stayed away from her brother too long, she could even die. They were supposed to be literally inseparable.
She closed her eyes and remembered what had just happened, a greasy black cat had cupped his hand around her mouth and carried her away. She tried to call her brother but he couldn’t hear her. She closed her eyes tighter and tried to use her magic to tell her brother where she was. She used up the rest of what little magic she had left to tell him through her mind.
Coricopat could hear his sister calling for help in his head but it wasn’t very clear, she was running out of magic and was weakening. He was stronger than she was and wouldn’t weaken as fast, he also still had his magic. He jumped out of the pipe and ran to Munkustrap who was sitting on the magic tire thinking.
“Munkustrap, we have to find Tantomile, she’s not going to last very long, she’s already out of magic.” Coricopat told him.
“Do you know where she is?” Asked Munkustrap.
“She’s with Macavity, we all know that, but we don’t know where his lair is.” Coricopat explained. Munkustrap held a finger up signaling him to wait. He ran out of the junkyard. About fifteen minutes later he came back with Mungojerry by the elbow.
“You know where Macavity resides don’t you?” Asked Coricopat.
“Well, yeah, but he’ll skin me alive if I go back there!” Mungo told him.
“Yeah but my sisters back there and Munkustrap and I won’t let him touch you, will we Munkustrap?” Coricopat asked.
“I guess so.” Munkustrap agreed.
“Well okay then...follow me.” Mungo commanded. Coricopat was silent as he walked, not even his feet made noise. Munkustrap tried to walk quietly because he felt so loud. Mungojerry just laughed. Munkustrap and Coricopat didn’t get why that was funny, so they ignored him.
Tantomile sat in her corner, not knowing what to do without her brother, normally they did everything, I mean everything, together. They did everything in sync. She was scared because she knew she could barely defend herself. She sat almost crying in the dark room, she was out of magic and couldn’t talk to her brother unless he was closer to her. Being the kind of twins they were, they could talk telepathically and use no magic though once he was closer she could use her magic.
She heard some evil cackling, she tried again to adjust her eyes to the darkness and could actually see this time, she saw a box, and a broken bowl, she could see a window which was nailed shut and had curtains that were singed at the bottom, but still touched the floor. She went behind the curtains and climbed to the top of them. She heard the cat who had captured her come into the room, she remained completely still, and made not a sound.
“Here kitty, kitty, kitty!” The cat called. He kept calling her and looked in the box but she wasn’t there so he left. She waited a couple of minutes before she had allowed herself to drop down. Her shoulders and legs had gotten tired from holding herself up there. She collapsed to the ground and waited for some good luck.
Coricopat could see the old abandoned building before anyone else and walked faster. When they could all see the building they hid in a dumpster to talk about what they were going to do.
“Coricopat, your going to help me fend off Macavity right?” Asked Munkustrap quietly. Coricopat nodded. “And Mungojerry is going to find your sister right?” Coricopat nodded again.
"She doesn't trust him at all, you'll have to prove that I sent you." Coricopat told Mungojerry. Coricopat shook his head to clear it, being away from his sister already started to confuse his thoughts. Coricopat handed him a coin. Mungojerry looked at it, it was a copper coin with a picture of a queen cat that looked like both Coricopat and Tantomile.
“Our mother. I’m trusting you Mungojerry, you bring her back, and the coin. It has no money value whatsoever, I promise, so make sure I get it, and my sister back, especially my sister, I'll tear every hair out of your head one by one and then bury you fourteen feet in the ground if you don't bring her back.” Coricopat explained. Mungo nodded truthfully. They left the dumpster to find Tantomile.
Tantomile could sense that her brother was close, but not close enough to let her regain her magic and strength. She sat waiting there knowing that someone was going to help her soon.
“What do you mean she’s not there?” Tantomile overheard Macavity say. She could hear footsteps getting closer as well, they were like a clock, telling her that she was running out of time. She tried to climb the curtain but failed miserably. Once the door opened, Macavity walked in. “You see, she’s right there, your fired. And you, your useless without your magic so just suffer in here. Without your brother, your nothing at all.” He said. The two evil cats left. His words hurt, but that didn't matter.
She could smell someone, but it wasn’t Macavity, the black cat, or Coricopat. She couldn’t tell who it was right away so she backed herself up to the wall. All of a sudden, an orange, black, and white, tiger striped face appeared from the door. It was Mungojerry. Tantomile hissed at him, she knew he used to work for Macavity.
“Hey, Coricopat sent me.” Mungojerry told her in a calm voice.
“Prove it.” She demanded coldly. He slid a coin over to her on the floor not daring to get closer. She picked it up and saw Coricopat’s copy of the coin of their mother. She held onto the coin and followed Mungojerry through the half burnt down building. She hadn’t noticed what the building looked like before, it was almost burnt down to the ground, the floor was covered in ashes. She could sense her brother in danger and ran that way when a hand grabbed her and literally dragged her the other way, she stood up and glared at Mungojerry.
“Your brother will come out soon enough, he has all his magic and Munkustrap's with him.” Mungo assured her. She refused to speak to him, but nodded. She was gaining back her strength again because of the presence of her brother, but was still magicless, he was too far away. If she went any further away, she might weaken all over again and have trouble walking. She had no choice, she had to talk to Mungojerry.
“I’ll have trouble going on if I get further away from my brother. A stupid witch cursed us when we were younger but we’ve grown used to it. Now, I have no magic whatsoever, and have little strength to do much but walk and talk.” She told him.
“Well, You’ll make it to the Junkyard, it’s not that far, and soon after Coricopat and Munkustrap will join you. If you don’t come with me, I’ll have to carry you. I made a promise to your brother that I plan on keeping.” He explained. She glared at him and sat down on the ground refusing to move. He reached over and picked her up.
"OKAY! I'll walk, but you'd better put me down right now, or I will tell Coricopat!" Tantomile yelled. They began walking back to the junkyard. Tantomile walking silently, while Mungojerry's footsteps could be heard.
Munkustrap and Coricopat were having quite a bit of trouble, they were both hiding from Macavity once Coricopat confirmed that Tantomile was away from the building so they could run away once they got the chance.
“Munkustrap, we can’t leave yet but we have to move away from this spot.” Whispered Coricopat. Munkustrap nodded and they both tip-toed over to a hollowed out pole. Munkustrap climbed in and Coricopat climbed into another one which was lower than Munkustrap’s hiding spot. He could tell that Tantomile was weakening more and knew he had to get out of there as soon as possible. He couldn’t feel Macavity around and went to get Munkustrap.
“Is it safe?” asked Munkus out of his hole. Coricopat nodded and they ran back to the junkyard though it seemed further away than it had.
Tantomile was huffing and puffing by the time they got to the junkyard and went to lie down. She began to get dizzy and was miserable. She sat waiting for her brother when Jemima went to check on her.
“Are you okay?” Jemima asked. Tantomile shook her head. Jemima went to get Jellylorum. When she came back, Tantomile was sweating really hard.
“What’s the matter sweetie?” Asked Jellylorum.
“Just wait for Coricopat, then I’ll be fine.” Tantomile replied tiredly, “When we were young, a witch adopted us both, me and my brother that is. She cast a spell on us that made it so that if we were separated for too long, I’d would lose my magic, and slowly wither away, he would have more time than I, he's stronger than I am. He doesn’t have to do anything, just be there. That darned witch was so cruel. Still is, we still belong to her, we just go back so she doesn’t curse us again."
“My goodness, so he just needs to be there?” Asked Jellylorum pulling Tantomile into a sitting position so she wouldn’t fall asleep.
“Yes, lucky for us, we got along perfectly, so it didn’t matter that we had to remain together. We didn’t mind that part, but you know once in a while, a moment away from your brother would be nice, as long as it didn’t drain the life out of both of us.” Tantomile explained slowly.
“How long does your brother have?” Asked Jemima.
“Twice as long as I.” Tantomile told her.
“What was your brother doing?” Jellylorum questioned.
“Keeping Macavity away from me, Mungojerry should have been there instead though.” Tantomile replied, “He’s safe though, I can feel it. If he was closer, we could talk through telepathy, and that would help but he’s too far away.”
Coricopat speeded to a run and Munkustrap followed.
“Can’t you just poof us there?” Asked Munkustrap.
“Not without Tantomile, we can only teleport cats together, that’s not from the witch though, that’s from us being twins. We’re almost there right?” Coricopat asked.
“Yeah, are you getting tired? I’ve never seen you tired from running!” Munkustrap told him.
“Well, it’s almost a mile from Macavity’s lair to the junkyard.” Coricopat explained. That though, wasn’t the truth, he didn’t want to tell Munkustrap that the separation was beginning to take it’s toll on him as well. They ran for about another fifteen minutes when they finally were close enough that Coricopat could talk to Tantomile in his head but he decided not too because Munkustrap was there and might have to say something.
He looked at Munkustrap who was huffing and puffing, Coricopat slowed down for him.
“Thanks buddy.” Munkustrap told him.
“No problem. Just around this corner right?” Coricopat asked.
“Yeah, then we’re there.” Munkustrap replied. They rounded the corner into the junkyard. Coricopat wasn’t tired anymore, he felt fully energized so he knew his sister was there. He walked over to his sister and gave her a hug.
“Took you long enough!” Joked Tantomile.
“Yeah, don’t get caught next time.” Laughed Coricopat. They both felt better instantly. Jellylorum, Munkustrap, and Jemima were still confused at what had gone on though, they just knew to always keep the two together. “Don’t ever scare me like that again!” Coricopat told her. She just laughed and handed him his copper coin. He gratefully took it and looked for Mungojerry, he found him with Rumpleteazer, his sister. Coricopat and Tantomile both got up exactly in sync and walked over to them.
“Thank you for taking my sister back.” Coricopat said extending a paw. Mungojerry nodded and shook his paw politely. Tantomile smiled and nodded.
“Mungojerry, what happened, you didn’t tell me anything happened? What did you do?” Asked Rumpleteazer.
“I just led Tantomile home, that’s all Teazer.” Mungojerry told her.
“Well I could have come too you know!” Rumpleteazer argued.
“Aren’t sisters annoying?” Mungojerry asked Coricopat. He just shook his head and smiled.
“No, my sisters my best friend.” Coricopat told Mungojerry.
“My brothers my best friend as well,” Tantomile added smiling.
“Why don’t you treat me like that Mungojerry! You treat me like a rat!” Teazer added. Coricopat and Tantomile both rolled their eyes and walked away.
“That was terrible today wasn’t it Cori?” Tantomile asked.
“Yeah, you almost died from what I hear.” Coricopat told her.
“What ever, I just felt sick and dizzy, what about you?” Tantomile questioned.
“I was beginning to feel that way, just not as extreme as you.” Coricopat replied.
“What ever, at least now we know to be extra careful right brother?” Tantomile asked.
“Why do you have so many questions?” Laughed Coricopat, “Usually your almost silent.”
“Well, I missed you all day.” Tantomile smiled. They both laughed.
